Review by CatLGP for Antonio’s Ice Cream and Coffee

I had high hopes for this ice cream shop, but, unfortunately, Antonio failed to deliver. I ordered a junior scoop of strawberry ice cream for my two year old, a chocolate milkshake and a rootbeer float. The strawberry ice cream was good-- what you'd expect, nothing spectacular, but solid. When I saw the root beer float I had to stop myself from asking if it was a joke. It was about 20 ounces of warm, sub-par root beer with a ridiculously small lump of ice cream dropped in. I have never had a worse float experience and felt extremely ripped off. The shake was also disappointing. It had a terrible taste-- I would hazard a guess that this was due to the chocolate from the squirt bottle being of low-quality. The consistency was watery-- nothing at all like your typical ice cream parlor shake. Also, no whippped cream was provided on either the float or the shake. In sum, a very poor excuse for an ice cream parlor. Do yourself a favor and head to Bill's Place in LaGrange Park or Tate's in downtown LaGrange. I had to give the service a poor rating despite the proprietor's friendly demeanor because I was truly insulted by being charged nearly $4 for the "root beer float". A place with good service would not have served it. Also, I was the only customer in the place and it took forever.
